“TELIKOM ACQUIRES DATEC”Michelle Amba

Telikom PNG Limited has acquired Datec PNG Limited, subject to regulatory approvals. Datec is a leading internet service provider and one of PNG’s largest ICT system integrators. Chairman of Telikom Mahesh Patel said the acquisition of Datec is to embark on restructuring its communications business towards retail, whilst its wholesale business is in the process of being transferred to Dataco Ltd. Mr. Patel said TPNG operates in a very competitive market where customer expectations are, by and large, influenced by rapid advances in communications technologies and user applications. Service providers are being compelled to be more agile and attentive to market dynamics and consumer expectations.
