Missing Girl Reunited with Father

By Lucy Kopana – EMTV News, Lae

A three-year-old girl who was abducted at Kamkumung in Lae yesterday, was brought to the Eriku Police Station and reunited with her father today.

According to police reports, she was following her brother who went to the Kamkumung Market when she was taken by a young man who gave her K2 to buy lollies. The man took her to the Raun Wara area where they met a young woman from the Eastern Highlands Province and forced her to take the child.

Reports stated that she took the child and went to the Eriku Police Station because she suspected that the child was not his. A Probation Constable (PC) took care of the child after no missing persons report were broadcasted yesterday.

This morning the child’s father lodged a missing persons report at the Lae Central Police Station and came to the Eriku Police Post where he was reunited with his daughter.

Lae’s Metropolitan Commander Anthony Wagambie Jr, is appealing to parents and guardians to look after their small children.

“Do not lose sight of them as strangers can easily entice them and take them away.”

He also urged the public to report suspicious activities to police or call the Lae Police toll free number 70903300.
