Member for Gazelle, Malakai Tabar, was today sworn in as Transport Minister.
He takes over from Ano Pala, who has been appointed as the Minister for Justice and Attorney General after Kerenga Kua’s sacking.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was there to witness the occasion.
National Alliance Party member Malakai Tabar was sworn in as the Transport Minister at 3:30pm this afternoon. There to show support were parliamentary leaders, Patrick Pruaitch and National Alliance founder Sir Michael Somare.
Also there this afternoon was sacked attorney general Kerenga Kua.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill arrived a few minutes after the arrival of National Alliance members.
Also present for the swearing ceremony was State Investment Minister Ben Micah and Fisheries Minister Mao Zeming.
The swearing in saw the new minister take his oath before the Governor General, Sir Michael Ogio.
In a media conference afterwards, the Prime Minister congratulated the new appointment, as well as thanking Mr. Kua for his contributions.
NA’s parliamentary leader acknowledged the powers bestowed upon the prime minister to appoint and decommission ministers.
The new minister accepted responsibility and gave his assurance to deliver in this challenging role.
