Two new programs for the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology will be launched by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill this Friday.
The two programs, Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Diploma in Teaching, will be launched in Port Moresby.
This follows the government’s directive for the department to progress into a better curriculum aimed at developing teachers at the primary education level.
It is a strategy to exit the Outcome Based Education curriculum that has been used in the Papua New Guinea education system for almost ten years.
Minister for Higher Education Malakai Tabar, Divine Word University President Fr John Jan Czuba and Education Secretary Michael Tapo will be amongst the guests who will be speaking during the launching.
Meanwhile, students and teachers in primary and secondary schools in the country are slowly winding down the 2014 academic year. Most of the schools will be hosting their graduations in the coming days.
