PNG Air has welcomed its second ATR aircraft.
According to Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Abbot, the airline company was excited with the arrival of the new aircraft registered as P2-Alpha Tango Alpha (P2-ATA).
“The second ATR arrived very early this morning so we are all excited by that. The aircraft is in our engineering hangar having some modifications done and is due to operate commercially from January 4,” Abbot said.
Proven flights will also be conducted before it commercially operates from January 4.
The second aircraft arrived just a month after the first aircraft P2-ATR, which was launched as part of the rebranding exercise the airline company has undertaken.
In an earlier interview with Chief Executive Officer, Muralee Siva, he said the rebranding fits the company’s vision as PNGs next-generation airline of choice and symbol of fleet transformation ‘People Connecting People’.
“Mr Siva said seven more ATR aircraft will be purchased to fly in PNG. The ATR aircrafts will replaced the existing Dash 8 fleet, expected to be outpaced by 2020,” he said.
