The bustling sounds of buyers and sellers filledthe atmosphere as business resumed atthe Manu Market following a temporary closure by police on Thursday.

The sellers here have negotiated with police to havethe market reopened with strict conditions.

Manu Market is one ofthe safest markets inthe city but in recent times it has been plagued by petty crimes.

This will not be tolerated withthe sellers pledgingtheir support to work police. Vendors of Betelnut and ther items will not be allowed withinthe market premises.

The cleanliness and hygiene atthe market is also a concern for those doing business as rubbish fromthe market has spilled ontothe road.

While onthe ther side fish sellers have endured sewerage spillage from a blocked pipe for three weeks. They have alerted responsible authorities but no action has been taken as yet.

Police will be manningthe market to ensurethese laws are compllied with andthe community has pledgedtheir support.

Meanwhilethe National Capital District Commission says Manu market is not a designated market.
