National Housing Corporation Eviction Ends in Robbery and Vandalism

by Scott Waide – EM TV, Lae

A National Housing Corporation (NHC) tenant and long-serving officer who was given an eviction order earlier this week has had her property vandalised and stolen by agents hired by the NHC to carry out the eviction.

Emma Kokol previously served the NHC for 30 years.

On Wednesday, we reported that she was told to vacate the Coronation Drive property in Lae, because NHC had “cash flow problems” and needed to sell off the standalone house she was occupying.

Speaking to EM TV by phone this morning, she said her desktop computer cable had been cut, as well as her son’s laptop and her tablet, during an attempted eviction while she was absent. Emma’s is one of four Lae families who have been ordered to vacate their properties due to sales.

Emma Kokol is now working with her lawyer to take out a restraining order against the NHC.
