Finance secretary, Dr. Ken Nangang yesterday visited the Rigo and Abau District Treasury offices.
It is the start of the more such visits to District treasury offices around the country to assess their performances.
Dr. Nangang said the visit was to show officers on the ground that the Finance Department is working as a team and also gives the Department an opportunity to know what is being done in the districts.
The finance department yesterday started its financial roll out program in the Central province in what one would say a grand ceremony for a small visit.
The Finance Secretary, Dr. Ken Nangang with his team of departmental heads visited both the Rigo District Treasury office and the Abau District Treasury office to kick start the program.
Dr. Nangang said the department plans to visit two district treasury offices per province this year to make sure that money allocated for the districts is spent and acquitted for.
He said too often District treasury officers give excuse of no capacity and operate from Waigani therefore the department will now be visiting the districts to see service is provided and delivered.
He also urged staff to make sure service is provided for the people and that they see the benefits of the money.
The secretary also donated a laptop each to the treasury office to help in providing services for the people.
