The Elementary Schools in Morobe Province are still waiting for their outstanding Standard Based Curriculum materials since June last year.
The Provincial Education Advisor for Morobe, Kieth Jiram said the delay is with Treid Pacific, the national distributor of the SBC materials.
Four containers of SBC materials are currently at Lae’s main wharf that are waiting for clearance.
The Standard-Based Curriculum, which replaces the Outcome Based Curriculum, was rolled out in Morobe, after the training in June of last year.
More than 400 elementary teachers in Lae attended the SBC training, and were supposed to implement the curriculum beginning this year.
Elementary teachers have come to Lae from other districts in Morobe, to follow up on the materials.
When we contacted Treid Pacific today a representative from their sales department said, the contract did not specify that Treid Pacific was obliged to deliver straight to schools.
The representative also stated that there was a delay due to wharfage clearance and the materials are being moved to the Education office for elementary schools to pick up.
