Morobe Governor Blasts Bureaucrats & Contractors on Lae Roads

Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru blasted bureaucrats’ and contractors who are causing delays tothe Lae Roads.

 

Governor Naru saysthe Works Department and Tenders Beard must get offtheir backsides and finishthe roads in Lae City.

Chronic road problems cause high vehicle maintenance.

 

Roadshat are still incomplete includethe Bembu road alongthe Bembu Police barracks andthe main road from Seventh Street to Chinatown. 

 

Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru saysthe blame is onthe works department andthe tenders’ board.

 

“The state ofthe Lae roads is an eye sore,” he said.

“The manner, in which,the tenders board and works department including contactors are managing this project leaves a lot to be decided”.
 

Governor Naru saidthe Works and Finance Department includingthe Tenders Beard and Contractors must understandthe detrimental effects thatthe roads put on residents and businesses houses inthe industrial hub.

 

The appalling state ofthe roads continues to raise costs to Lae residents and motorists.

 

Michael Sum says hiPMV Bes runs onthe bumbu road and he says a cost of running PMV business puts a strain on his wallet.

 

“I make around K150 a day and spend K500 a week on spare parts,” he said.
 

FTM Construction Managing Director John Rosso says that his company has been waiting for outstanding payments owed tothem and has to be paid beforethey finishthe job.

 

“Afterthe number one claim was put in two years ago for the Bembu road,they paid us this year just two months ago,” he said.

“The Cassowary Road construction still has to be paid after two years.”
