The Returning Officers of the nine districts in Morobe say, election campaigns are running peacefully in all districts. However, there are a few issues faced in Finschhafen and Tewae-Siassi District on election enrolment and campaign delays of candidates under political parties.
Finschhafen District Returning Officer, Essing Ulam said, most voters have missed out on the election enrolment. He said few candidates have signed a petition regarding the concern on the 28th of last month.
Forty-two candidates nominated last week, including two women. Electoral Commission Manager for Morobe, Simon Soheke said a supplementary roll was part of the solution for the concern in Finschhafen.
However, an approval from the Commissioner of PNG Electoral Commission is still pending. Morobe has over 300 candidates contesting this National Election.
And in Tewai-Siassi District, the Returning Officer, Ralph Ryan says, campaigns for candidates endorsed by a political party are delayed due to funding delays.
Most candidates have returned to Lae after nominations last week, to follow up with their funds promised by parties.
