22 Primary School Inspectors from the 9 districts of Morobe and few Lecturers from Balob Teacher’s College today (June 25) began their 5 days workshop on Standard Based Curriculum at the College in Lae.
The curriculum replaces the Outcome-Based Curriculum and was rolled out at the Elementary Level 5-years ago.
The Senior Education Officers from the Division and a Lecturer from Balob Teacher’s College will train these Inspectors, who will then roll out the training to all Primary school teachers in the Province.
The one-week school break of term two in Morobe Province brought these inspectors to Lae to be trained on the Standard Based Curriculum.
This is the initiative of the Education Department that aims to have all primary school teachers trained on SBC.
For Morobe Province, the Division aims to have all Primary School teachers of the 9 districts trained during their term three-school holiday in September.
The Senior School Inspector for Basic Education in Morobe, Nakuli Tangui says, the division will focus on sustaining this curriculum by conducting school based in-service for teachers.
The teacher’s guide and syllabus on SBC are available for training of school inspectors.
Mr. Tangui has called on the higher authorities to support this program and make it work in the province.
