Moran Special Purpose Authority Board

By Bridgette Komatep – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Moran Special Authority in the Hulia LLG of Komo Magarima District in Hela Province, now has an elected board in place, after six months of waiting.

The new Authority chairman is Gibson Tigi, and Deputy Chairman, Paul Yawe.

The election was presided over by Magistrate, Samson Tarakali, at the Hideaway Hotel in Port Moresby.

It took six months since November, of last year, to conduct the swearing ceremony of the board executives. Tony Kila, one of the elders of Moran claimed that the process was delayed by the department of provincial government affairs.

Despite the delay, the people, represented by chair persons of 20 intergrated land groups voted for the Moran Special Purpose Authority Chairman, Gibson Tigi, and his deputy, Paul Yawe, unopposed. Also in attendance were officers from department of provincial affairs and LLG’s.

The rest of the board members were also sworn into office, taking an oath to serve the people, they represent in the Hulia LLG of Komo Magarima District in the resource-rich Hela province.

The rest of the ex-ofio members will be sworn into office in the coming weeks.
