Momis to recontest Presidential Seat

Chief, Doctor John Momis, is recontesting the Bougainville Presidential Seat in this year’s Autonomous Bougainville Government General Election.

Chief Momis was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth, former Vice President, Patrick Nisira, who’s also recontesting the Halia Constituency seat, and supporters of the New Bougainville Party.

His nomination was accepted yesterday by Regional Returning Officer, John Itanu.

Challenging him in this seat is former National Parliamentarian, Sam Akoitai.

Meanwhile, Bougainville Acting Electoral Commissioner, George Manu stated that returning officers for each constituency are responsible for accepting candidate’s nominations.

Nominations for the third Autonomous Bougainville Government General Election is now open.

The three day nomination period, begins today till Wednesday this week, 4pm, Bougainville Standard Time.
