Moera Memorial Cup

The Moera Memorial Cup Tournament at Irupara Village of Rigo District in the Central Province comes alive with an eventful parade during its grand opening.

EMTV Sport travel up to Irupara village to observe the event’s launching.

The opening of the Moera Memorial Cup Tournament yesterday at Irupara village in the Central Province, blossom with spectacular uniform display and song performances as part of its opening celebrations.

21 teams comprising of 10 male soccer and 11 female volleyball teams vying for this cup gathered early as 9 in the morning and paraded towards the grand stand area.

These teams are Ouri Manu, Aleville, Ele Ale Teams 1 and 2, Upunavo, Konenama, Iru Mix, Kona Mala, Pana Iru, Bradas and Only Rose.

This year will be the second year to host this biggest tournament which started in 2015. It will go for 4 years.

It was held to commemorate major sponsor and event’s organizer Ronnie John’s late daughter Moera.

Speaking to EMTV Sport, Ronnie John said this tournament also provides an opportunity for locals to showcase their raw talents and also compete in other provincial and national tournamen’s.

The tournament will commence on Thursday, April 18, this year.
