The newly crowned Miss Papua New Guinea/ Miss Pacific Islands, Abigail Havora, has returned to Port Moresby this afternoon from Rarotonga, Cook Islands, after her historical success in being crowned Miss Pacific Islands 2015.
Havora also took out the titles for Best Sarong and Best Talent in the pageant. Papua New Guinea first joined the pageant in 2010.
In its sixth year of participating, Havora has made history in being the first Miss Papua New Guinea to win the crown in the regional pageant.
In Papua New Guinea’s history of pageants. Eva Arni claimed the ‘Miss Asia’ title in 1975. After 40 years, Havora claimed the Miss Pacific Islands crown, with another historical win for the country.
Family and friends at the Jacksons International Airport gave the Pacific Queen the Papuan welcome this afternoon.
Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Central Province Governor, Kila Haoda, thanked Havora for her success which has made Central Province and Papua New Guinea very proud.
Havora thanked her support team saying they were behind her throughout the pageant and contributed a lot, which resulted in her success.
