Chinese Railway Base: Local Business Group Deals Wisely

A Community along the Nadzab Highway is set to benefit from an agreement signed with the Chinese company building the multi-million kina Lae-Nadzab four lane highway.

Yalu locals have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese Railway international to allow them to lease land for a base camp.

Locals will be employed in the company as part of the MOU agreement.

The company has employed local operators to clear the site, for the next five years as this will be the base camp of the Chinese company.

It comes after the signing of a memorandum of understanding, between a Chinese international company tasked to build the multi million kina Lae-Nadzab four lane highway and the Mopang business group.

Dominic Mark is the spokesperson of the business group established to manage commercial land owned and leased by several Yalu clans to the Chinese companies.

With this arrangement, the people will be compensated through the business group .The land hasn't been sold to the company.

The idea is to generate revenue for the people’s coffers and provide employment to youths and keep them out of trouble.

The business group has discussed working conditions for the locals and it’s understood that two agreements were signed on the 15th of this month, which includes arrangements that should suit landowners.

Chinese Railway International is the same company spearheading the law ports extension, during the signing of the Lae agreement on Friday, the company's management said they are perfecting their involvement to the satisfaction of the people.
