PNG DataCo Limited today launched its new Customer Point of Interconnection, which connects the LNG Fibre to DataCo’s Customer Point of Interconnection in Port Moresby.
The project is proof that DataCo is on target to implement the National Transmission Network, which aims to provide high-speed communication at a low cost.
Minister for Public Enterprise and State Investments, Ben Micah, launched the Customer Point of Interconnection, calling it the “information super highway”.
The launch of the DataCo Customer Point of Interconnection took place this afternoon in a small but significant ceremony.
DataCo Managing Director, Paul Komboi, said DataCo has now commercialised the government’s initiative of connecting the LNG Fibre Cable from Caution Bay to Port Moresby.
Minister for Public Enterprise and State Investments, Ben Micah, said the government wants to see effective high speed infrastructure network.
The event also saw the launch of DataCo’s new website.
According to Minister Micah, the government has its sight set on even bigger projects such as a new National Submarine Fibre Cable Network, and Satellite Project. This is part of the government’s aim to see 100% of the country’s population with access to communication in 10 years’ time.
