By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Petroleum and Energy Minister, Ben Micah, says it’s about time Papua New Guinea explore the wide range of energy resources in the country.

Minister Micah said the energy sector remains untapped while awaiting policy frameworks.

Micah said he will push relevant government agencies and stakeholders to capitalise on the energy sector so people benefit.

The appointed Petroleum and Energy Minister, Ben Micah, says PNG has many energy resources which can benefit and change the livelihood of the people. However, policy guidelines and framework are yet to be finalised and presented to the National Executive Council.

Micah is anticipating the efforts by former Minister, Nixon Duban, will be achieved through his term as the new minister.

And with the National Government excited to see the Papua LNG, Angore and Juha projects added to the list of major projects in the country, former Petroleum & Energy Minister, Nixon Duban, says down processing must be the next step in the sector.

Both ministers have pledged to work together to transform the Petroleum and Energy sector.
