The Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) has moved to secure the financial future of members of its House of Representatives through the presentation of K1 million to NASFUND.
This payment, which was backdated to 2013, now enables ABG members to access the various services on offer by NASFUND.
NASFUND Chief Executive Officer, Ian Tarutia, was in Buka to witness this occasion and commended the ABG for taking this approach.
“The ABG is the first regional government to ensure that retirement savings for its Members of the House of Representatives are secured – and for this NASFUND is grateful. There are many services, including discounts, health insurance and others that members of the ABG can now access. Not only in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, but anywhere in PNG,” he said.
In presenting the funds, ABG Finance Minister, Albert Punghau, acknowledged the efforts of NASFUND in educating the ABG members on the importance of creating a savings culture.
“The ABG is pleased at the efforts put in by NASFUND’s staff on Bougainville, and we look forward to working together to promote more of a savings culture on Bougainville.”
