45 officers within the PNG Defence Force Engineering Battalion have been promoted to higher ranks at various levels in the defence hierarchy.
The promotion has made history with the largest number of officers promoted in the year 2015.
Commanding Officer at Igam’s Engineering Battalion says the achievements have indicated the Engineering Battalion’s commitment in the PNG Defence Force.
The 45 officers at Igam’s PNG Defence Force Engineering Battalion.
Yesterday has marked a special day for them as they have been recognised by the Defence Force for their efforts and getting promoted.
Not only that, what’s also remarkable about this date, is they are part of a group that has made history in a mass promotion of officers within the force.
The officers were officially presented their new badges for Warrant Officers, Sergeants, Corporals and Lance Corporals.
The officers are mostly professional engineers whom the state continues to engage in various infrastructure projects around the country.
Some have left their project assignments in other provinces to attend this significant event.
This year marks a significant era in the PNGDF Engineering Battalion’s calendar.
The mass promotion of the 45 officers has made history compared to previous years where less numbers get promoted per year.
PNG Defence Force holds a large portion of the yearly government budget and under its projects budget; funds are still inadequate for its infrastructure projects.
