Madang Health Director: Government Failed to Help

The Madang Provincial Government has failed to assistthe Catholic Health Services in improving infrastructures at Josephstaal, inthe Middle Ramu District.

 

Madang Provincial Health Director, Marcus Kachau said this in his speech duringthe opening ofthe new health facilities at Josephstaal last week.

During his official speech at Josephstaal, Mr Kachau on behalf ofthe Madang Provincial Government apologized tothe Catholic Health Services andthe local people, for not honoringtheir promise.

 

On May 2009, he saidthe Madang Provincial Government withthe Catholic Archdiocese, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, for the annual release of eighty-six thousand kina.

 

These funds were to help improver infrastructures at Josephstaal, but to date, nothing was ever released.  

 

“We failed to providethe support of eighty-six thousand kina every three year,” said Kachau.
 

Mr Kachau said Churches have been atthe forefront of developmentoparticularly in priority areas of education and health.

 

He praisedthe Catholic Church for its continuous support inthe delivery of primary health care.

 

Kachau also applauded Chief Sir Peter Berter for his community service.

 

He called onthe National Government to fully show its commitment and support tothe Churches.
