Lukim PNG Nau 2015 Tourism Expo

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The Papua New Guinea tourism sector has experienced steady growth over the years, much of which can be attributed to various initiatives taken by the Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA) who have marketed PNG as an ideal travel destination.

One such initiative is the Lukim PNG Nau Tourism Expo, which coincides with World Tourism Day on September 27.

Papua New Guinea’s potential as a travel destination for tourists is yet to be fully harnessed.

Various factors may impede the growth of the sector, but steady progress has been made by the TPA to positively market PNG to the world.

The Lukim PNG Nau Tourism Expo proves to be an effective avenue that has generated much interest in the tourism sector in PNG.

The expo, held annually, brings together members and stakeholders of the PNG tourism industry to collectively market their products to the general public and overseas agents.

Over 30 exhibitors including airline companies, tour operators, small resorts to large hotel groups and tourism associations will be participating in this year’s expo at the Port Moresby Nature Park

It is all part of Tourism Week, a program organised by the TPA.

The week long awareness program will culminate with a trade expo on Monday, September 28.

The TPA is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the benefits of tourism are felt at all levels of the society.
