As city residents take time out to relax after two weeks of thrilling OFC Nations cup yesterday, smaller competitions outside the city like the Lower Sogeri Football Competition continued at Laloki High School.
The competition started in March, with 26 teams taking part in both the men’s and the women’s division.
18 teams competing in the men’s division and 8 teams in the women’s.
EMTV Sport caught up with the round 12 action of the competition.
Teams that played were; Laga United vs Cenmogs, Samika vs Lemedi, Kefex vs Cousins, 15 BFs vs UN Blacks, Hiltribes vs Bubugae, 17 United vs Paiks Matene, Diga United vs Blue Kumuls, Anate vs Souka and Lohos vs Granville.
The women’s Teams did not play any matches yesterday.
Taking the field as EMTV Sport caught up with the match, were the United Blacks versus 15 BF who played exceptionally well.
After a trying 90 minutes, the match ended with 15 BF coming out on top with a 2 – 0 scoreline.
Lower Sogeri Sport Association Secretary, Moses Koran, said apart from gathering people from surrounding communities to take part, the main aim is to qualify as many players as possible to play in the Besta Cup.
Mr. Koran said, players in this competition have gone to the last Besta Cup but did not perform too well due to the lack of exposure.
Koran hopes, this competition will push for more players to get into Besta Cup.
