LOOTED ITEMS RETRIEVED

Police and PNG defense force personnels have raided the Gerehusuburb today to retrieve stolen properties from the Brian Bell main distribution center at Gerehu stage six. Some of the looted items were willingly brought to the police and PNGDF as the search continues in all parts of the suburb.

Police have conducted road blocks at exits of Gerehu suburb in their search of the looted properties of Brian Bell . They are moving from house to house and recovering items that were looted on Wednesday.

Some communities of Gerehu suburb have willingly brought forward looted items to police.The Chairman of the Brian Bell group, Ian Clough said that the main distribution warehouse of Brian Bell group which was built in 2019 had housed nearly 17 thousand square meters of products in bulks.

The unfortunate incident on Wednesday has cost them 120 million kina worth of goods including their main distribution center warehouse in Gerehu.

” You know the senseless buring of this building is really disappointing. Its one thing to loot properties but its another thing to burn it down. So far businesses like ours that has suffered this kind of loss, it will take a long time to rebuild” said Clough

Clough also said that the rebuilding of the of the site will take at least 12 to 18 months. Clough mentioned that they have a warehouse in Lae and they are in the process of building more space in Lae to take pressure off Port Moresby.

Clough also highlighted Brian Bell Group’s legacy of 66 years in the country and assured the public that they are not going anywhere. He added that they are committed to providing services to their customers and to continue to look after its staff and also serve the communities.
