Last Respects for Late Joe KaneKane

ThPNG Media Fraternity, Law and Justice Sector and Port Moresby residents were giventhe opportunity to bidtheir last farewell to someone who was important intheir line of work, Joe Kanekane.

The St Joseph’s Church in Port Moresby was filled to capacity as many came to paytheir last respects tothe late Joe Kanekane, who dlied of a heart attack in Western Province.

 

The Correctional Service Officers,the Poll Bearers, were on hand to receivethe casket ofthe Late Joe Roger Kanekane.

 

 

It was a moving thanks giving mass for Mr Kanekane who hailed from Kowangil village, inthe Imbongu District of Southern Highlands Province. His families and especially children couldn’t hold back tears.

 

His contributions tothe law and justice sector,the media council and various high positions he held and influenced was evident asthe church was full – house. Those who paidtheir last tribute spoke highly of him. It was best summarised bythe Secretary for the Department of Justice and Attorney General Dr Lawrence Kalinoe.

 

“His contributions will be remembered inthe Media Fraternity, inthe Education Sector and inthe Law & Justice Sector. He was truly a remarkable man,” says Kalinoe.
 

ThPNG Scouts Association also acknowledged Mr Kanekane’s contributions to Youth Development. His Five – Year Service Award was presented to son Junior Joe Kanekane.

 

The late Joe Kanekane suffered from massive heart attack and dlied in Tabubil, Western Province. He is survived by his three wives and seven children.

 

He was aged 44.
