LANDSLIDE BLOCKED HIGHLANDS HIGHWAY NEAR WAPENAMANDA

A landslide occurred near Kwimimanda village few kilometers outside of Wapenamanda Airport blocking the main Highlands Highway and caused a major traffic congestion yesterday.

The landslide had blocked off the main Highlands Highway causing vehicles on both sides to remain stranded.

With ongoing tribal fighting, such incidences pose threat to commuters as the general public are urged to remain vigilant while traveling in this part of the Highlands Highway.

The landslide occurred near the tribal boundaries of the Kaekin and Itokon clans with both clans directly involved in the ongoing tribal fight in the Wapenamanda District.

The situation was closely monitored by security forces on the ground.
