The Lae Fire Service saved a home at the boundary road area late yesterday afternoon before fire razed it.
Fire Fighters doused the flames that started in a smaller building next to the house. It comes after a series of fires that drew high-level attention to the Lae Fire Service earlier this year.
As fire fighters arrived early onto the scene and managed to save the family home and the neighbors houses, a crowd moved in to watch.
Inside the yard, family members worked frantically with firefighters to stop the blaze and save their home.
The property which included two buildings, the smaller one of which had caught on fire.
On-lookers made their way into the yard nearly getting electrocuted by power lines exposed in pools of water.
The fire fighters prompt response to save the residence comes after many months of criticism by the population residing in Lae over the spate of fires earlier this year that included the Pelgens warehouse and Brian Bell home center in the Market area.
Over three months ago, the ColorPac warehouse got burnt down in East Taraka, a suburb on the outskirts of Lae City.
Boundary Road residents say Lae Fire fighters showed that they could be swift when called to attend fire emergencies.
