Papua New Guinea’s Music Legend, Buruka Tau, was accorded the Life Time Achievement Award at the 10th Keynote PNG Yumi FM Musik award last night.
The award is in recognition for his contribution to the music industry in the country.
Buruka Tau is a band member of the Legendary, Saguma Band.
It was the PNG Music Industry’s night of nights at the Lamana Gold Club in Port Moresby.
The place was jammed packed to capacity with PNG music fans.
Fifty-Seven nominees were vying for the coveted music awards in 18 categories.
They all turned up to be part of the big night.
But the night could not begin without first recognizing some of PNG Music Legends.
Buruka Tau set the tone for the night with his Life Time Achievement Award.
The award is given in recognition for his dedication to PNG Music Industry.
PNG’s old-time favorite, Demas Saul belted some favorite tunes like Talaigu
He was awarded the PNG YumiFM Music Hall of Fame.
Jokema group scored three awards including charting consistency of the year, Group of the year and SMS Song of the year with O’mam.
The studio label of the year award went to Panakatsu Studio, the recording label for Jokema and Riki Kali.
Rookie of the year and Album of the year went to Tati while Trogan were classed as newest group of the year while their hot favorite Salamist Lewa scored themselves the song of the year.
Mereani Masani was the only female nominee and she won the Female artist of the year while Dadi Gee, who was the rookie of the year in 2005 now named as the male artist of the year.
Daniel Bilip, a rising artist put the already frenzy crowd to a dancing mode.
