The visit to Gulf by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, and Health Minister, Michael Malabag, also saw them witnessing the swearing in of members of the Kerema Hospital Board.
The nine board members were officiated by Kerema Court Clark, Mrs Alofa Miria.
The members include Christian Vinson as Chairman, Sari Tamasi, Deputy Charman, Phillippe Blanchard, Sudhir Kumar Guru, Henry Ori, Pastor Dickson Kairi, Ben Bal, Orila Pekaea and Royden Kasau.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Chairman Vinson said their priority is to serve Gulf people with better health care.
“Our plan is to improve the standard of delivering health services in Gulf,” said Chairman Vinson.
Welcoming the new board members, Health Minister Michael Malabag said hospital boards are now the responsible body of driving plans and visions of hospitals.
Minister Malabag said it up to the Kerema Hospital Board to have its own plans, however it is also crucial to align plans with the National Government Health Plan.
“Aligning provincial development goals with the National Plan will see fund distributed easily to levels of organisations,” said Minister Malabag.
