K1 Million for Porebada Village

By Stanley Ove Jr, EM TV – Port Moresby

Porebada Village, in the Kairuku-Hiri District of Central Province, received some much needed services worth over a K1million yesterday.

Delivering the services was MP for Kairuku-Hiri District, Peter Isoaimo.

The village of Porebada sits next to the LNG processing plant site, and is one of the least developed villages in Central Province.

12 months ago, Isoaimo, through his party leader and PNG Treasurer, Patrick Pruaitch, committed K1 million for development projects and yesterday they fulfilled their commitments in delivering these services to Porebada.

Three community trucks, four speed boats and motors, and funds of over K100,000 to maintain schools and other church and sports associations were presented to the village yesterday.

Isoaimo said while the government is obliged to deliver these services, the people must take ownership to maintain them for future benefit.

“Our only word of caution and advice for the villagers is to look after what we’ll be given to them. It is their community assets,” Isoaimo said.

Isoaimo stressed the benefits of these services and how the community must work together in ensuring all the people in the village have a share of these services.

“Anything that is tailored for community service is what should be implemented for, it is for the entire benefit of the people,” Isoaimo said.

Meanwhile, K5 million was provided to seal off the Porebada Road by the Central Provincial Government.
