Both parties have worked together to accomplish goals in delivering teaching and learning to a grass – root level, through various projects such as the EQUITV project.

JICA and NDoE signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to implement another project.

They signed an MoU in Port Moresby to improve the quality of Science and Mathematics in Papua New Guinea.

The project will come into effect next year, where JICA will produce and distribute textbooks and teacher guides for Grades 3 – 6.

The project will support the Standard Based Education in the country.

The Japanese are known to have traditional knowledge and experience in Science and Mathematics.

Mr. Shigeru Sugiyama, JICA PNG Chief Representative, assured all that they will continue to utilise their experience in this project.

The Secretary for Education, Dr. Uke Kombra, thanked JICA and the Government of Japan through its Embassy for their support.

The NDoE took on the challenge in making this new project a success with help from JICA.
