Japan Stuns South Africa with 34-32 Victory in RWC

By Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Japan have caused one of the biggest upsets in the World Cup, with a victory over two-time world champions the Springboks in their opening match of Rugby World Cup 2015 34 points to 32.

In a very entertaining match, from the start it was clear to see that both sides were desperate to open their World Cup campaign with a win. The Japanese side never let South Africa get too far ahead on the scoreboard; they hung on and stayed right in the contest.

With a very small point differential on the scoreboard during the game; alate try to Japan gave them the 2 point victory. A win that is already described to some as the “greatest victory in World Cup history”.

Labelled as one of the possible Cup winners for this year, South Africa was stunned by a team that was expected to struggle to get out of a pool that includes the likes of Samoa and Scotland.
