Lae Police will be out in full force during this long independence weekend, and are warning potential trouble makers to refrain from causing problems.
Lae Metropolitan Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie, said there will be zero tolerance of alcohol, drugs and disorderly conduct in public.
Up to 300 men and women will be out in Lae City starting tomorrow, until Monday.
Wagambie said Lae will be hosting its main independence celebration and police are aware that they will be more people coming into the city.
Police will also be stationed at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium to provide security during the celebration.
Police will be tough on those who intend to consume alcohol, drugs and act disorderly.
There will be no liquor ban or curfew.
However, Wagambie warns those who intend to consume alcohol and cause trouble will be dealt with accordingly.
