Proper structures must be in place for the inclusion of women in the workforce.
This is a clause of the National Government’s new Gender Equity and Social Inclusion policy.
This policy will be rolled out in all departments, at both the National and Provincial level.
The Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Policy, is targeted for the public service, based on the Government’s decision to promote women in the workforce.
Gulf and West New Britain, are two pilot provincial administrations, that will implement this program.
The Gulf committee recently held its first sensitization workshop in Kerema, attended by Government officials from the Personnel Management Department.
Departmental head John Kali told EMTV News, Gulf passed the requirements to implement the policy’s general order provisions, driven by strong leadership.
The policy identifies ways for more women in leadership and decision making.
This includes activities that support women, templates for recruitment, selection, induction, network, help desk and communication Plan.
The program will soon be rolled out to other provincial governments including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
