The Institute of Business Studies (IBS) will be offering degree programs in 2017.
This comes after IBS received accreditation from the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology in June this year.
With the limited number of spaces at Universities and the disturbing number of school leavers every year, this new development at IBS will increase the number of options for Grade 12 school-leavers in the country.
The new degree programs will be offered at the Mt Eriama Campus outside Port Moresby, commencing in Semester 1, 2017.
The announcement was made today by IBS Executive Director, Edward Silva, at the Mt Eriama Campus outside Port Moresby.
The courses are: Bachelor of Accounting and Finance; Bachelor of Business and Management; Bachelor Economics and Development; and Bachelor of Information Technology.
Mr Silva said the new courses were developed are giving immense importance to meet PNG industry needs.
The new courses will be offered alongside the two existing Southern Cross University courses.
The accreditation came after years of hard work in proving IBS is about quality education.
Since its establishment over 25 years ago, some 20,000 students have passed through the institute.
IBS is also physically preparing for next year, with the construction of a multipurpose building nearing completion. It will house a number of lecture rooms, computer labs, the administration offices and a larger library.
Mr Silva said interest is growing and IBS is expected to have an intake of 400 pioneer degree students next year.
