Hunters Team Returns with Kokoda Cup

The SP PNG Hunters returned from their round 8 clash against the Burleigh Bear’s today.

The Hunters came off an impressive 42-6 victory over the Bears yesterday at Pizzey Park.

Four tries from Adex Wera, and a try a piece from Wartovo Puara Junior, Karo Kauna junior and David Loko saw the Hunters win back the Kokoda Cup.

Coach Michael Marum was impressed with the teams overall performance, saying their defensive efforts were outstanding, having conceded one try from the Bears.

After yesterday’s match, minor injuries to a few players may see them miss this weekend’s clash. The team brought back the Kokoda Cup after a year with the Bears.

Ase Boas was named the ANZAC Player for the Hunters while fellow Kumul, Luke Paige was named the ANZAC Player for the Bears.

Adex Wera has been picking up form and has been outstanding for the Hunters in their last two matches. Though scoring four tries yesterday, he was cited by the QRL for dangerous contact and will find out if he will be suspended by tomorrow.
