Hundreds of people are still queuing in terminals to catch a flight to Port Moresby for the Pacific Games opening ceremony.
In Mount Hagen passengers on waiting list are still pushing for a chance.
Some members of a traditional sing sing group from Jiwaka who are supposed to perform at the opening ceremony for the Pacific Games tonight were on the waiting list since Monday.
Airline tickets to Port Moresby have all been sold out.
There is a similar situation were also faced in other main centres.
Among those travelling, many were found to be first timers in the Nations Capital. Among them is the mother of PNG’s sprint queen, Toea Wisil.
The Jiwaka mother came to Port Moresby to see her daughter, running the track and hopefully winning gold for PNG.
“Em first time blo mi lo kam lo Moresby. Mi mama blo Toea Wisil [This is my first time in Port Moresby. I’m Toea Wisil’s mum], ” said the excited mother in her Tok Pisin Dialect.
With the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pacific Games kicking off tonight, it will be a memorable moment for those who are lucky enough to attend the momentous event.
