Government to revive PNG’s Constitution

Prime Minister Peter O’Neil says The National Government is taking advice to reviewthe country’s constitution.

He was responding to questions from Madang Governor Jim Kass in parliament on whtherthe government was going to address loopholes inthe constitution.

Mr Kass saidthe country was nearing its 40th anniversary andthe review was needed.

The Prime Minster saidthe question was timely and that cabinet was already looking into it.

He saidthe government will review upon advice given bythe Constitutional Law Reform Commission (CLRC) before presenting it tothe parliament.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill stressed thatthere was nothing wrong withthe constitution. He said it only needed to be strenthened.

Commissions Secretary Dr. Eric Kwa saidthey will begin a comprehensive review ofthe constitution this year.
