Former Member of Parliament Mathew Siune passed away on Sunday, 24th of March.
He was first elected Premier of Simbu from 1980 to 1985 and was a long-serving member of the Provincial Assembly from 1980 to 1995 until the Provincial Government system was abolished.
From 2002 to 2007, he was elected member for Kundiawa Gembolg. During his tenure, he was the Deputy Leader of Opposition, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock and Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations.
Some notable developments he initiated include the Kundiawa Town Water Supply, the Provincial Headquarter building and the resurrection of the National Agriculture Bank to the current National Development Bank.
