Fish Market to Open Soon

Minister for Sports and Moresby South MP, Justin Tkatchenko, announced that the long awaited fish market would be opened at the end of the month.

The opening of the fish market will add to the transformation of the landscape around the Koki area that’s been continuing for the past four years.

The Minister for Sports, National Events & APEC 2018 and Moresby South MP, Justin Tkatchenko, this week announced that the new fish market will be opened in about two weeks time.

Koki Market and the new fish market area is one of the oldest traditional trading spots for Papuan villagers.

The new market holds 90 stalls, it has lavatory facilities, an ice making machine, and even fuel facilities.

The opening of the new fish market facility is expected to encourage incoming earning for fishing communities. It is also expected to encourage and promote healthier diets among city residents.
