Favourite Sustainable Development Goal and Why

During the second day workshop on awareness on Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goal in Port Moresby, participants were asked what each individuals favourite Sustainable Development Goal was from the 17 goals and why it was their favourite goal as part of the workshop exercise.

From the 17 goals, a good number of participants chose Goal 4 – Quality Education as their favourite goal.

Each individual stated their personal reasons as to why quality education was important. Most highlighted the importance of quality education stating that if there is no quality education or without education, reading and understanding will complicate understanding level thus will affect many lives as well as the implementation of the goals.

Therefore quality education is important and with quality education, the country can move forward together with successful implementation of the other Sustainable Development Goals.

Followed by Goal 4 was goal 17 – Participation for the Goals. A couple of representatives highlighted that partnership was the key way to successfully implementing the rest of the goals in Papua New Guinea.

Examples were given on the smooth flow of connectivity issues especially when initiating, implementing and delivering. Many stressed that without one, the implementation of the goals in the country will not be possible. But together, the government, civil society, NGO, and private companies, the implementation of the SDG’s will be possible.

Other goals highlighted were Goals 3 – Good Health and Well Being, and Goal 5 – Gender Equality.
