The father of a young woman who was raped and killed has called for the death penalty to be imposed on his daughter’s killer.

Her father described the killer as an animal who didn’t deserve to live.

This afternoon, Henrietta Jimmy’s former school mates gathered to pay their respects.

She attended the Lae Community College – a school which provides an alternative pathway for those who have not been able to get a placing at higher institutions.

Her father, Jimmy Tewi, who is divorced from Henrietta’s mother was present but didn’t attend the service has demanded the death penalty for the killer of his daughter.

“It’s a horrible way to die,” he said.

“Witnesses said my daughter was beaten and taken to a sandy embankment on the river.

“There he raped my daughter and killed threw her body in the river.”

The alleged killer is understood to be a brother of Henrietta’s stepfather.

According to Police, Henrietta was kidnapped by her attacker as she waited for a bus along the Lae-Bulolo Highway.

The coordinator of the community college said, Henrietta was a leader in her class. She took charge of activities and was a good student.

Henrietta Jimmy is just one of a long list of young girls and boys who have been subjected to brutal sexual assaults that eventually in their deaths.

Nearly all such crimes that have on have been committed by people they knew either as friends or family members.
