Exxon Mobil Helps Tari Hospital To Contain Measles

Exxon Mobil PNG, the operator of the PNG LNG Project, has donated various medical supplies to Tari Hospital to support the fight against the recent outbreak of the measles in the province.

Exxon’s Managing Director, Peter Graham, said the donation was to assist to contain the outbreak.

 

Mr Graham said the outbreak has already affected many people throughout Hela.

“As a neighbour operating in Hela, we want to contribute to fight this disease”, Graham added.

 

The support included eight vaccine fridges, thousands of syringes, antibiotics, vitamin capsules, and more than 60 mattresses.

 

Hela Governor, Anderson Agiru was thankful for the support stating it will help provincial health authorities’ and medical personnel to effectively address the problem.

 

This comes after provincial authorities experienced strains due to increasing cases.

 

Although cases are increasing constantly, no deaths have been reported as yet.

 

In addition to the support being provided to the province, Exxon Mobil has been offering clinical services and information sessions for its Hela based workforce on how to deal with the measles outbreak.
