The Enga Provincial Government has again achieved another milestone by delivering science foundation courses to its student in the province.
This was made possible when Enga Governor, Peter Ipatas and his provincial administration presented a cheque of K500, 000 to the University of Papua New Guinea yesterday.
The funding will go towards the building of a science laboratory at the UniCentre Campus in Wabag.
UPNG Pro-Vice Chancellor, Vincent Malaibe, said Enga is the first province in the country to breakthrough and establish a science laboratory from the Waigani Campus. Mr Malaibe said UPNG’s relationship with the Enga people began since establishing the UniCentre in 1987 in Wabag.
The facility will also provide opportunity for students in the Highlands, Momase and Islands Region to study in Wabag.
Enga Governor, Peter Ipatas said students will now be given the opportunity to receive higher level education in the province. He also announced that the annual allocation funding of K100, 000 to the Enga UniCentre will increase to K300, 000.
A MOA was also signed between Enga Provincial Government and UPNG. First intakes are expected to commence the program in 2016.
