A film crew from the world renowned TV Show, Survivor were recently in the East New Britain province of Papua New Guinea to scout shooting locations for next Survivor series.
The team were in consultation with the East New Britain Tourism Authority.
East New Britain Tourism Authority CEO, Gard Renson, says after nearly a week of locating the right spots for the shoots, the Location Producers from the Survivor team have expressed their interest for the first shoot to be filmed in the province.
Kokopo is reportedly the preferred base for production, focusing on the Duke of York Islands, and the surrounding locations of Rabaul and Kokopo.
The first shooting is expected to take place on the Duke of York Islands, and will commence in March, 2017. It is to run for approximately six weeks. The rest of the filming, involving the contestants, will take an additional 7 weeks, commencing mid-to-late April, 2017.
The series is expected to move to other locations such as Rabaul, Gazelle, Lasul and Inland Baining and Pomio.
Mr. Renson adds that the only hurdle that the East New Britain Tourism Authority is facing is to convince and sell the Province to the Swedish TV producers.
The final outcome of the negotiations will be made known in November, 2016.
Mr. Renson says if the negotiations turn out well, East New Britain could potentially play host to the Survivor series for next 5 to 6 years.
