Dusava signs Technical Cooperation MoU with Japan

Papua New Guinearsquo;s Ambassador to Japan Gabriel Dusava signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Japanese Ambassador tPNG Katsuo Yamashita onthe Technical Cooperation between Petromin PNG Holdings Limited and Japex.

The signing took place overthe weekend atthe Hotel New Otani in Tokyo. It was withnessed by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

This was followed by a courtesy call to Mr Abe’s office. Mr O’Neill was accompanlied by Minister for National Planning Charles Abel, Commerce, Trade andIndustry Minister Richard Maru, Petroleum Minister William Duma and Public Enterprises Minister Ben Micah.

Meantime, in his address tothe Business Community of Japan, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill firstly expressed gratitude towards Japan’s Official Development Assistance program.

This includes bilateral grants, technical cooperation and concessional loans, most of which were used in education, infrastructure, agriculture and rural development.

And while he assuredthem oPNG’s political stability, he encouraged Japanese investment as well.

He saidthe safety and security of Japanese investments is futher assured whenthPNG/JapanInvestment Promotion and Protection Agreement come into force this year.
