Outgoing Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, William Duma, thanked his board and management for working with him throughout his time in the role.
Duma said that although the ministry may not be as high profile as others, transport is still vital for the people of Papua New Guinea.
Incoming Minister, Nixon Duban, thanked Duma for a job well done. Duban said that although he did not know much about the transport ministry, he would use his experience from his previous positions within police and petroleum and energy to help him run the transport portfolio.
Duban said that the key areas he would be looking at will be maritime safety issues, and small aircrafts used in provincial areas.
He also said priority would be shown towards public motor vehicle (PMV) and taxi services, and how best to improve and modernise PMVs.
