Soon after touch down at Jackson’s International Airport, commonwealth Champions, Steven Kari and Dika Toua were greeted by a media frenzy, as Sport Minister, Justin Tkatchenko held a press conference to welcome the two athletes.
Minister Tkatchenko reiterated his pride in Team PNG at the games as an emotional Toua held her two young children close to her.
Amongst the VIPs on hand to greet the returning heroes, were Minister for Sport, Justin Tkatchenko and NCD Governor, Powes Parkop.
Sacrifice, was the word that Dika Toua used to describe her achievement as she cradled her young family after an absence of almost two years.
Fellow Gold Medalist, Steven Kari was more composed but showed the strength and courage that has seen him become one of the Commonwealth’s greatest.
Chairman of the Motu Koitabu Assembly, Miria Ikupu, was also elated with the performances of the duo.
While both were excited to be back on home soil, they were also eager to return back to their homes.
