Commonwealth Games gold medal winning weightlifter, Dika Toua, will begin training in New Caledonia in preparation for the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics.
Toua, who recently competed in the 2015 Pacific Games, was in Hanuabada when EMTV caught up with her. She has been running her weightlifting club, LTD, in Hanuabada to assist those who would like to take part in the sport.
She will travel to New Caledonia to continue her training, and ensure she is the best prepared she can be to tackle on the world’s best at Rio 2016.
Toua will take part in the Commonwealth Championship in three weeks time, and the World Championships in November. She departs this afternoon to meet her fellow weightlifters, and younger sister Delma Toua, who is currently training under the guidance for Coach, Paul Coffa, in New Caledonia.
Toua will prepare next month for the Oceania and World Championships, as well as other major events prior to the big finale in Rio next year.
